Saturday Sewing is a great place to start (and hopefully finish) a sewing project in one day! Hosted by Aileen, the projects will primarily focus on bag-making and craft sewing, with patterns provided and materials that you will likely find in your stash or scraps.
The April 2025 project will be a stylish cross-body bag (I hesitate to call it a bum-bag!)

SUITABILITY:
This class is suitable for adults only, age 16+.
You will need some basic sewing skills for this workshop - you must be able to fill a bobbin, thread a machine, and sew reasonably straight seams!
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BRING:
- You will need one fat quarter of quilt cotton for lining your bag, a quarter metre of heavier fabric eg. denim or cotton twill/drill canvas for the outer, and a quarter metre of G700 interfacing for lining.
You will need a zip of 14" or longer (not shorter), and it can be purchased on the day if needed.
You will also need webbing and hardware for your handle, these can be purchased on the day of your class as the combinations can be explained better in person.
If you need to purchase all items on the day, that's no problem, just make sure to arrive 15mins before class to allow a little extra time.
- Machine-sewing thread (sew-all polyester thread or quality cotton is recommended).
- Basic sewing kit (bobbins, fabric scissors, tape measure, seam ripper, pins etc.)
- Bring a notebook to jot down measurements, instructions and any future fabric requirements.
STUDIO ACCESS:
The Studio at Sew Yarn Crafty is accessed from the main shop down a flight of stairs from the shop with alternative access direct to the basement for anyone requiring an entrance without steps. When attending any class, we will meet you at the shop front door 15 minutes before the start time. If you are running late and arrive to a closed front door, please go to the side alley (Wilson's Close) to the side entrance (with the bright pink door!) and ring the doorbell.
